Remarkable gardens can originate also in recent time as in case of this park, called after its founder Arturo Scherrer, who lived from 1881 till 1956 and was a textile merchant. The park is situated in Morcote at shore of Lake Lugano, which is with its atmosphere closer more to Northern Italy than to more frugal Swizerland. The garden frame is created mainly with copies of architecture from different continents, sometimes enriched with genuine collections from Scherrer´s tours (Indic palace especially, the last picture). Rampant-growing mediterranean or ever more exotic plants, equipped with labels, complete the look. Opening days are from the half of March till the end of October, from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. Entrance is paid, Euros are accepted. Not so far, at Maggiore, Gambarogno Botanical Gardens are situated, too. They are a platform of famous Eisenhut Nursery and worth to visit during rhododendron-flowering time at the beginning of May.
