"Nejromantičtější zahrada na světě" je přídomek italské zahrady, která se nachází asi 60 km jižně od Říma. Fotografie místa, které jsem bohužel zatím nemohla navštívit osobně, jsou z jara 2013. 

"The most romantic garden in the world" is a nickname for an Italian garden located about 60 km south of Rome. The photographs of the place - which I have unfortunately not yet been able to visit in person - are from spring 2013.

Francie / France: Val Joanis

Tentokrát přináší pozdrav zahrada ze slunné Provence. Její autorka Cécile Chancel se inspirovala francouzskou kuchyňskou zahradou 18. století, aranžovanou dle klasického mřížového vzoru. Úprava tří rozlehlých teras započala před 30 lety, kdy byla založena formální struktura rámovaná živými ploty z tisu, zimostrázu a habru. Na jednotlivých záhonech je pak pěstováno ovoce, zelenina a květiny, uspořádané v harmonických celcích. Rostliny jsou přizpůsobeny místním podmínkám tak, aby přestály teploty až -12˚C. Jsou tady vysazeny řešetlák (Rhamnus alaternus), jamovec (Phillyrea angustifolia), dub kermesový (Quercus coccifera) a pistácia (Pistacia lentiscus), typické pro garrigue (originální středozemní křovinná flóra vyskytující se na vápenitých půdách). Původní keřové růže byly nahrazeny ořechoplodcem (Caryopteris), perovskií, řebříčkem a travinami. Zahrada, doporučovaná Louisou Jones jako ukázkový příklad provensálského zahradničení, je celoročně volně přístupná a je vhodné podpořit její provoz zakoupením výrobků z místní produkce. Zámek Val Joanis je totiž známý především výrobou vín a leží uprostřed rozsáhlých pozemků nedaleko Pertuis.
A garden from sunny Provence brings its greetings for this time. Its creator Cécile Chancel has been inspired by an 18th-century-style French kitchen garden, laid out on a classic grid pattern. The landscaping for three wide terraces was put in place 30 years ago and a formal structure of yew, box and hornbeam hedges established to contain the fruit, vegetable and flower beds, arranged in harmonic units. The choice of plants has been adapted to include those which will withstand temperatures of -12˚C. The garden now includes garrigue plants (the original mediterranean bushy flora growing on limestone) such as buckthorn (Rhamnus alaternus), Phillyrea angustifolia, kermes oak (Quercus coccifera) and mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus). Shrub roses have been replaced with blue mist spirea (Caryopteris), Russian sage (Perovskia), yarrow and grasses. This garden, recommended by Louisa Jones as the sample for Provençal gardening, is freely open for a whole year and so it is convenient to support its running by buying locally made products. Château Val Joanis is well-known especially for its wine production and lays in the middle of extensive grounds near Pertuis.

Francie / France: Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild

Zavítáte-li na Azurové pobřeží, bylo by rozhodně škoda nenavštívit i nejkrásnější zahradu této oblasti. Odkaz movité baronky je výjimečný také exkluzívním umístěním, poloostrůvek Cap Ferrat kousek od Nice patří k nejžádanějším luxusním adresám i dnes. Samotná zahrada je rozdělena na 9 tematických celků, na centrální Francouzský parter za palácem a na po jeho pravé straně přiléhající Sevres, zahradu Španělskou, Florentinskou, Kamennou, Japonskou, Exotickou, Růžovou a naproti Provensálskou. Vila je otevřena celoročně, platí se vstupné.
If you visited Cote d'Azur, you should surely visit also the most beautiful garden of this area. The devise of rich baroness is exceptional with its location, too, the peninsula of Cap Ferrat still belongs to the most desired luxury adresses. The garden is divided into 9 thematic units: the central French parterre behind the palace and the Sevres, Spanish, Florentine, Stone, Japanese, Exotic and Rose garden on its right side, with the Provencal garden over the way. The villa is open a whole year with paid entrance.

Zdejší Růžová zahrada, situovaná ve svahu a uměle napájená, byla na konci září úchvatným zážitkem, formálně uspořádaným koutem z růží ve své nejlepší podobě.
The Rose garden, situated in a slope and artificially irrigated, was a fascinating experience at the end of September. The formally arranged rose corner at its best.


Potřebný efekt zajistilo pouze pár kultivarů v masové výsadbě: Johann Strauss, Dynastie (neboli Carefree Wonder), Baronne E. de Rothschild, stromkové růže Princesse de Monaco a popínavé Pierre de Ronsard (syn. Eden Rose).
The main effect was provided by only a few varieties planted en masse: Johann Strauss, Dynastie (aka Carefree Wonder), Baronne E. de Rothschild, tree (standard) roses of cv. Princesse de Monaco and climbing Pierre de Ronsard (Eden Rose).

Starorůžovou barvu fasády lze označit za trademark rezidence.
The old pink facade colour is something like a trademark of the residence.


Do dokonalosti sladěné zpívající fontány pěly např. slavnou melodii sboru Židů z Verdiho Nabucca.
To perfection arranged singing fountains play e. g. the famous melody of Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves (Verdi's Nabucco).

Monako : Rozárium / Monaco: Rose Garden

Ve státě s prakticky stoprocentním pokrytím zástavbou bude pochopitelné, že rovněž zeleň, mimochodem perfekcionalisticky udržovaná, bude mít své přesně vymezené prostory. Nicméně i tady se v 80. letech obyvatelé rozhodli vytvořit koutek, zasvěcený výhradně růžím, a to se cení. Zahrada, pojmenovaná po jedné z nejznámějších a nejoblíbenějších aristokratek, kněžně Grace, je osázena i hodně novými kultivary francouzských šlechtitelů spolu s populárními anglickými růžemi nebo třeba kreacemi značky Harkness. Nachází se ve čtvrti Fontvieille, z Jardin Exotique bysme sem shlíželi shora. Ostatně není tomu až zas tak dávno, co samotnému vzniku celé 22hektarové Fontvieille předcházel vpád do Neptunovy říše navršením horniny ke břehům Monaka. I vznik a provoz rozária stál nemalé úsilí a není tedy divu, že je pro místní záležitostí takřka srdeční. Však jej také dali strážit a i když vstup nic nestojí, rozhodně se nevyplatí provozovat tady žádnou neplechu, vstupem mimo určené stezky počínaje. K růžové zahradě přiléhá Parc Paysager nejen s ornamentální, ale rovněž s k růžím ochrannou hodnotou, a velký dětský koutek. Samotné rozárium je ohrazeno a otevřeno denně, oficiálně od úsvitu do západu, ale mám pocit, že na konci září jej zavírali v 7.
It can be understandable that in the state with practically hundrer-per-cent buil-up area also the greenery, perfectly maintained by the way, has its exactly allotted space. Nevertheless inhabitants decided in the 80s to create a corner dedicated to roses only, too, what is worth to appreciate. Garden, named after one of the most known and popular noble, Princess Grace, is planted also with pretty new varieties from French breeders along with favoured Austin roses or e.g. Harkness creations. We find it in the district of Fontvieille and we would look there from above from Jardin Exotique. Besides it has not been so long when the whole 22hectare Fontvieille arose from the sea by filling Monaco's shores with stone. Also the rose garden rise and running has required a lot of effort and so it can be comprehensible this place is for locals, as it were, a matter of heart. Garden is guarded and although the entrance is free, it is surely better to avoid any mischief starting with going out of dedicated paths. Nearby the rose garden there is situated Parc Paysager with not only ornamental, but also protecting function to roses, and a large children playground. Rose garden alone is enclosed and opened daily, officially from sunrise till sunset, but if I remember right it was closed after 7 p.m. at the end of September.

Kněžna Grace k návštevníkům promlouvá prostřednictvím citátu v rodné angličtině (zajímavě první uvedené) a oficiálním jazyku Monaka, francouzštině: "Co je tak zvláštního na růži, že se zdá být mnohem víc než jen květinou? Snad spočívá odpověď v mysteriích věky předených, snad v potešení, které nepřestává dávat."
Princess Grace speaks to visitors through a quotation in native English (first, interestingly) and the official language of Monaco, French: "What is so special about a rose that it seems far more than a flower? Perhaps it is the mystery it has gathered through the ages, perhaps it is the joy that it continues to give."
