Skrytou perlou a studnou inspirace zvlášť pro nás z Moravy je Botanická zahrada a arboretum (tedy dva v jednom) Mendelovy zemědělské a lesnické univerzity v Brně. Pokud někde totiž čteme název "botanická zahrada", dá se očekávat, že vše bude pro naši lepší orientaci opatřeno popisky, a pokud je to navíc ještě "arboretum", bude tady i množství dřevin, rozdělených většinou geograficky. Tady se vše navíc snoubí v harmonickém, oku lahodícím celku, a tak i design si přijde na své. Však také tato až překvapivě velká zahrada slouží zejména vědeckým potřebám univerzity a studentům zahradní architektury a zahradnictví, kteří v Brně tráví první dva roky studií. Arboretum můžou zdarma navštívit i laici, ve všední dny od 7 do 15 hodin. Kromě výstav a speciálních akcí, jako jsou prohlídky s průvodcem, není zahrada o víkendech nebo v pozdější hodiny otevřena, ale i tak její zaměstnanci bojují s vandalismem. Příjemné ale pro ty bez auta je, že sem jede šalina přímo od nádraží nebo z centra.
A secret gem and well of inspiration especially for us from Moravia are these Botanical Gardens and Arboretum (so two in one) of Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno. And if we somewhere read the name "botanical garden", it should mean that all plants have labels for our better orientation. If it is moreover the "arboretum", we can expect lots of woody plants often organized geographically. In addition, everything there is arranged into harmonical, to eye-pleasant complex for design-interested. This is not striking when noted that surprisingly large gardens serve mainly to scientific purposes of the university and to its students of landscaping and horticulture, spending first two years of their studies in Brno. Public can visit the arboretum as well for free on working days from 7 till 15. Gardens are closed on weekends or in later hours except of some exhibitions and special occasions as guided tours, but after all their employees have to fight with vandalism, too. Those without car can ride with a tram (here specificially called "schalina" ) directly from stations or the centre.
