Villa Taranto

Botanická zahrada Villy Taranto započala svou existenci až v 1. polovině 20. století, i když součástí parku jsou dřeviny i několik století staré. Za přeměnu v botanický komplex mezinárodního významu vděčí místo kapitánu Neilu McEacharnovi, který pocházel z bohaté skotské aristokratické rodiny a mohl se tak plně oddat své vášni a také realizovat výpravy za novými exempláři. Na 16 hektarech dosáhl McEacharn spojením estetických a botanických požadavků působivého výsledku, ve kterém vodní prvek v podobě fontán, jezírek, bazénů, kaskád a potůčků zaujímá významnou roli a kde je zároveň možno najít na 8 500 rostlinných druhů a odrůd z celého světa. Vybrané části zahrady také ukazují, co znamená pojem „dokonalý trávník“. Koberce s až neuvěřitelně perfektní strukturou si tady pěstují sami. S Villou Taranto bezprostředně sousedí Villa San Remigio, přístupná veřejnosti pouze po rezervaci a s průvodcem, většinou však o víkendech. Budova Villy Taranto je v současnosti veřejnosti nepřístupná. Otevírací doba je od konce března do konce října, od 8.30 do 18.30 hodin, vstupné se platí.
Botanical Gardens of Villa Taranto started its existence as late as the half of the 20th century, although trees centuries old are also included. It has been bound to Cpt. Neil McEacharn for its transformation into the botanical complex of international importance. McEacharn came from wealthy Scottish noble family and so he could devote wholly to his passion and realize new specimens expeditions. He achieved impressive effect by integration of aesthetic and botanical requirements. Water element presented by fountains, ponds, pools, cascades and streamlets plays the significant role there and we can also find about 8 500 plant species from all the world in 16 hectares. You can touch here the most perfect lawn I´ve ever seen, too. They cultivate it themselves. There is Villa San Remigio in the neighbourhood as well, but it can be visited only guided after booking, mostly on weekends. The building of Villa Taranto is not open to the public on the present. Opening days are from the end of March till the end of October, from 8.30 a.m. till 18.30 p.m. Paid entrance.
