Heterocentron vnáší do skupiny balkonovek zajímavý kontrast především svým olistěním s červenohnědým nádechem. Jeho habitus je tvořen kombinací jak přímých, tak plazivých lodyh, k docílení kompaktnosti zaštipujeme. Rostlina snáší slunce i polostín, pokud chceme aplikovat hnojiva k podpoře kvetení, tak spíš v nižších koncentracích a s menším obsahem dusíku. Přesto jsou k násadě růžovofialových květů zapotřebí zejména nižší teploty od 16 do 20 °C. Spanish Shawl brings to the group of potted plants an interesting contrast with its red-brown tinted foliage. The habitus is created by combination of straight and creeping footstalks that we can pinch for a more compact growth. Plant tolerates as sun as semi-shade and if we wanted using fertilizers to support flowering we should apply them in low concetration and nitrogen levels. Nevertheless the main factor for appearing purplish-pink flowerets are lower temperatures between 16 and 20 °C.
